Is it true that just lying there with your eyes closed is as good a relaxation for your body as sleeping?
Joe M asked:
A friend once told me that scientifically humans are as relaxed as when they are lying down in the dark with their eyes closed (and not thinking about anything) as they are when they are in a sleep…

If you are awake you can’t have total metabolism stop. This means that calories are burned more when awake even in a steady state because the mind is active, the neurons that tell you your body is lying down against the floor activate your brain which you can’t control or stop. It is however the closest that we can get to actually sleeping but it is not exactly the same.
No, that’s not really accurate. You may *feel* as relaxed, but physiologically you’re nowhere near the state you are when you’re in a sound sleep. When you sleep, your brain waves change and your breathing and pulse change. Now these things may change while you’re lying down with your eyes closed, but your brain will not enter the same brainwave patterns, and your body is not in the same state as sleep.
Lying with your eyes closed does not constitute sleep and isn’t a substitute for a full 8 hours of sleep.
If you close your eyes lie down, your body gets relaxed. Just make mind calm and lie down for some time. You can get rid of Tension Tiredness..
No. Your brain has a lot of work to do that it can only do when you’re sleeping. That’s why sleep deprivation is eventually fatal.
when our body are relaxing, it is the time when u are sleeping with ur eyes open and u kinda like notice or not about it.. in that way our skin and body are relax totally.
yes. In fact, workers are being encouraged now, to lie down flat during break times, even for just 6-12 mins, is more beneficial, than sitting and reading! I’ve tried it! It works wonders!!
