2 parts lavender, 1 part eucalyptus, add to your favorite lotion or bath. You shouldnt use essential oils straight without mixing in something, too strong.
cramp bark extract is anti-spasmodic
Clove and cinnamon are great for numbing. They just need to be diluted with olive oil. Peppermint and wintergreen are also great for muscle pain. Peppermint and wintergreen can be diluted with hot water before putting on muscles. Or in hot bath water…
For a massage blend you can use a 3-10% dilution of essential oils. Some oils are pretty user friendly and some aren’t. Please try out lower percentages initially.
Oils that are effective in relaxing muscles are Oregano, Allspice, Carrot, Anise, Valerian and Rosemary. Oils that are helpful to relieve pain are Arnica, Anise, Bay, Birch, Camphor, Cinnamon, Clary sage, Clove, Eucalyptus, Wintergreen…the list goes on.
When making blends you can use synergy to your advantage. I mean that nothing is merely the sum of its parts. If you add an euphoric to the blend, that will help in pain relief. Benzoin, Clary sage, Ylang, Rose, Jasmine, Nutmeg.
If you add something to increase trans-dermal absorption you will increase the efficacy of the blend. Peppermint, Pine, Black Pepper, Birch, Eucalyptus.
